High blood glucose and low blood glucose
Diabetes is a condition of high blood glucose and this blood glucose to be well controlled to prevent diabetes related complications.

Diabetes related complications, in short, are a condition of poor blood circulation that damages the blood vessels. Since the blood vessels reach every part of our body from the head to toes, this blood vessel damage can happen any part of our body. If we think of the blood vessels as water pipes, clear stream of water flows makes the water pipe last longer compared to polluted stream of water running in the same pipes. High blood glucose in blood damages the vessels over time. By controlling the blood glucosenormal we can prevent complications.

Figure [1-1] illustrates the normal changes in blood glucose in relation to exercise or eating in the range between 70-140. Outside this normal range categorizes the high and low blood glucose. In precise terms, blood glucose of more than 140 before meals and more than 200 at any time is diagnosed diabetes.

When diabetes is diagnosed, the high blood glucoseof more than 180 is considered to be clinically critical and the treatment is necessary. The optimum level range of control in diabetic patients are as follows. If the high blood glucoseis not controlled promptly, patients may feel lethargy, hunger, weight loss, frequent urination, overeating, cramps in the hands or feet. Additionally, complications may also require longer time for healing process, periodontal diseases, and common cold and flu virus infection.

Low blood glucoserefers to the drop below 70. However, it is important to be aware of some side effects in medicinal treatments. Sometimes blood glucoseof 70 does not show any symptoms and it differs from person to person. However, anything below 50, in general, should demonstrate symptoms.

Low blood glucosemay bring symptoms such as hunger, tremor, chill, sweat, irregular heartbeats and anxiety and it can lead to unconsciousness if not treated urgently. Unlike high blood glucose, low blood glucoserequires medical urgency. If you feel any of the symptoms, you should eat foods as illustrated followings.

Additionally, once the blood glucosebecomes low, the blood glucosemay dramatically increase afterwards. Therefore, prevention is the best way to maintain your wellbeing.
